FREE PLAN

Here are the plans for a soil fertility probe. If the probe is used regularly and the results interpreted correctly, it will become the most important tool you own.
The total cost of materials should not exceed AUD$10.00

PURCHASE or PROCURE the following :-

  • 800mm [ 31" ] long X 10mm [ 3/8" ] dia. steel rod
  • 180mm [ 7" ] long X 25mm [ 1" ] dia. steel tube [ pipe ]

HOW TO FABRICATE THE SOIL FERTILITY PROBE :-

  1. grind / file both ends of steel rod at ~ 45 degrees
  2. place steel tube in vice [ parallel to ground ]
  3. drill a hole all the way through, big enough for the rod
  4. push the rod through the hole until flush
  5. weld both sides [ top and bottom ] and then grind off excess weld

HOW TO USE THE SOIL FERTILITY PROBE :-

Push the probe into the ground before and after rain :-

  • where the grass is short
  • where the grass is long
  • in the middle of tussocks
  • where ground is bare
  • middle of a weed patch
  • anywhere and everywhere on your farm [ put it in the back of the ute ]

HOW TO INTERPRET THE RESLULTS OF THE SOIL FERTILITY PROBE :-

The deeper you can push the fertility probe into the ground, the more soil life and moisture holding capability is in the soil profile ! !

Existing clients average ~ 60cm [ 2' ] after about 18 months of implementing our strategies

How far can you push your soil fertility probe into the ground ?
